Recently hauled up by the MACC, Datuk Seri Nicky Liow Soon Hee expressed regret at assaulting three Rela personnel and contributed more RM200,00 to worthy causes.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) recently questioned 29-year-old Liow who is out on bail after he was charged with assault and consuming drugs.

Liow was also alleged to have offered each of the Rela officers a bribe of RM10,000 to drop the assault case which the trio turned down.

Kuala Lumpur MACC director Datuk Han Chee Rull said that investigations are still ongoing.

“There are some technical reports we are waiting for before we conclude the case. I am unable to disclose more details about the investigations,” he told The Sun when contacted.

Liow could possibly face up to two years in jail, or a fine, or both, if he is convicted under Section 323, 325 and 353 of the Penal Code for causing hurt, grievous hurt and using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty, respectively.

Yesterday, at an event in Serdang at the Selangor Community Policing headquarters, Liow told the media that he regretted the incident and was willing to extend his apology to the affected Rela members.

“I want to be part of society and I regret my actions

“I am willing to extend my apology to the victims affected by the incident,” he was quoted as saying.

When asked how he feels about people demanding his Datukship to be stripped following the assault, he said that he would leave the matter to the relevant authorities.

Earlier, Liow contributed RM210,000 to support the study costs of two university students, the Selangor Community Policing group, and the construction of a basketball court in an independent Chinese school in Puchong.

He handed over the cheque to Community Policing Malaysia founder and chief executive officer Kuan Chee Heng.
