The married couple who were last seen with Dutch model Ivana Smit broke their silence and gave their first interview to the Mail on Sunday last week, shockingly revealing that they had indulged in a threesome with the teen shortly before she died.

  • The Johnsons said they have what they term a “progressive” marriage and had enjoyed previous “three-way” flings
  • Luna is bisexual
  • Reportedly, Ivana did drugs – cocaine and ecstasy
  • Couple getting death threats
  • Attempt to kidnap five-year-old daughter

American cryptocurrency trader Alex Johnson, 44, and his wife Luna, 31, admitted that they had sex with 18-year-old Ivana Esther Robert Smit three weeks earlier and on Dec 7 last year – the day she was found dead.

Ivana had fallen to her death from the balcony of the duo’s apartment at Capsquare Residence in Jalan Dang Wangi.

The Johnsons also admitted in the interview with the British tabloid that all three of them had been drinking heavily and that Ivana had been taking drugs.

The pair had met Ivana at the Prime nighclub in Kuala Lumpur last Halloween, where they were introduced by a mutual acquaintance.

Alex had been working with cryptocurrency firm Everus since early 2017 and living in Kuala Lumpur for a decade.

He met Luna, a lawyer’s daughter who works in education, in 2010.

The Johnsons said they have what they term a “progressive” marriage and had enjoyed previous “three-way” flings, although they were much closer to Ivana.

According to the duo, when they first met Ivana, she allegedly told them that she was 26 years old.

“Ivana said, ‘Your wife is awesome.’ She was quite bold,” Alex said.

“She asked me to stand up and dance with her. We weren’t kissing, but we were doing sexy moves.

“She was beautiful, charming, confident. I was already melting,” Luna said.

Foreign media reported that Luna is bisexual.

The trio set up a WhatsApp group among themselves, which contained explicit flirting.

They had a threesome at the Concorde Hotel on Nov 4.

The tabloid reported that Ivana went to a models night at Mantra, a penthouse club with a dramatic view of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline, on Dec 6.

Her agent, who asked not to be named, was also there and claimed that Ivana was looking for drugs.

“She wanted ecstasy.”

Alex arrived shortly afterwards, followed by Luna.

Mantra’s CCTV – seen by the tabloid – shows Ivana dancing, sometimes with Luna, sometimes with Alex.

They left together and moved on to 9 Club, where patrons rent private rooms. There, said Alex, they continued to drink heavily.

When they left 9 Club at 5.22am, CCTV footage shows Alex carrying Ivana.

However, by the time they got back to the Johnsons’ apartment, its cameras captured the model walking normally into the building and out of the lift towards the couple’s unit.

It was 5.44am and Johnsons’ daughter was asleep.

Luna said the babysitter went home, and she and Ivana sat on the sofa, drinking cider.

Ivana phoned her boyfriend, Lukas Kramer, saying she was “with my girlfriend at her place”, and at 7.24am, sent him a selfie, texting she was “chilling”.

The Johnsons’ daughter got up, and Luna said she and Ivana had breakfast with her.

“Ivana was hammered. I kept talking to her as I got my daughter ready for school. Ivana lay down while I took her there,” said Luna, who went out for about 30 minutes.

When she returned to her apartment it was 8.15am, and her husband and Ivana were on their bed, but Alex was asleep.

According to Luna, Ivana was awake.

They sat on the sofa and after 20 minutes Ivana put on some music and took off all her clothes.

“So we went into the bedroom and were intimate,” Luna said.

She said that afterwards, she lay down with her husband in the bedroom and came out into the lounge at about 10am to find Ivana “wandering around, talking to herself and giggling.”

She added that she was so tired after all the partying that at 10.15 she went back to the bedroom and fell asleep.

She said she woke at 1.25pm and saw that Ivana’s clothes, shoes, bag and phones were in the lounge/kitchen, but that she had disappeared.

“I thought maybe she had borrowed some of my clothes and gone to a photoshoot she’d mentioned,” Luna said.

Then she drifted off to sleep again.

Ivana’s body was discovered at 2.20pm at the sixth floor of the apartment.

The Johnsons were woken up by the police at 5pm.

The parapet on the apartment balcony is just three feet high. Beyond lies a narrow shelf with two air-conditioning units.

The couple have maintained innocence in the matter, saying that there were footprints on the balcony and on to the top of the air-conditioning units.

The Mail on Sunday has seen a photo of Ivana’s body, lying very close to the side of the building. Her arms are bent at the elbows. Her expression looks peaceful.

The Johnsons were arrested, and while the daughter went to live with her nanny, the couple were held in custody for two weeks, suspected of drug use and breaching immigration rules.

They were released without charge.

Blood tests showed no trace of drugs and their visas were in order.

However, a post-mortem showed Ivana had taken cocaine and alcohol, and had high levels of PMMA – an amphetamine sometimes sold as ecstasy.

Malaysian police announced Ivana’s death was an accident. After her family protested, the police opened a second inquiry. Apparently, the second investigation has also concluded that the death was accidental.

A second post-mortem was carried out in the Netherlands and its findings caused a furore.

Bruising on her upper arms and the back of her head sustained some time before her fall was possible evidence of a struggle before Ivana fell and the investigator hired by the Smit family to look into the case said the case should be treated as a homicide.

Alex said he has received numerous death threats since the murder claim was publicised, and there was also an attempt to kidnap his five-year-old daughter.

“A man phoned our nanny, Maha, saying he was Luna’s father and would be picking her up from school. Luna’s father died before she was born.”

“We never intended to make the details of our marriage public. Now we fear our own lives are in danger, and we have no choice,” he said.

“When I talk about her death, my hands are shaking, I have a pain in my heart. I feel so sad. It’s awful. But because I have been fighting to prove my innocence, I haven’t been able to grieve,” Luna said.

On Sunday, the Smit family’s lawyer also told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that the teen had sex in the hours prior to the discovery of her body.

He said this was based on “new information” that was corroborated by the findings from the second post-mortem conducted on Ivana in Holland.

Lawyer Sébas Diekstra added that pathologist Dr Frank van de Goot, who carried out the second autopsy, had previously detailed finding “male DNA” in Ivana’s body and held the opinion that it likely occurred in the last hours of her life.

“In the Netherlands, you can be prosecuted if you commit sexual acts on someone who is unconscious or under reduced consciousness,” Diekstra told the daily.

De Telegraaf also reported that Smit family spokesman Fred Agenjo believed his niece was not in control of herself nor her actions in the hours before her death.

“There were huge amounts of drugs found in Ivana’s body. She was no longer competent.

“If anyone still had sex with an 18-year-old girl who was in that condition, that’s not good. They should stay away from someone under such circumstances,” he was quoted as saying.
