The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has denied leaving out the name of Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin from the list of 80 individuals and entities who are being issued with compound notices for receiving money from 1MDB, said its chief commissioner.
Latheefa Koya said the list of those fined was not exhaustive and the latest move by the MACC was against individuals who received RM500,000 and more.
“The MACC’s approach is to give priority to cases where the money involved is a large amount and not other matters,” she said in a statement yesterday.
Her statement follows claims that the commission had dropped the name of Mas Ermieyati, who is Masjid Tanah MP, from the list of 80 who had received money from 1MDB.
Latheefa said that the MACC would continue to take action to recover monies that belonged to 1MDB.
On Monday, the MACC announced that it would serve compound notices to 80 individuals and entities comprising companies, political parties and organisations that received RM420 million from 1MDB. – The Star
