The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested the son of Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Rahim – the same day the Baling MP was released.
It is learnt that the son was detained to assist investigations into allegations of corruption and money laundering.
The 24-year-old was arrested after being summoned for questioning at the MACC headquarters around noon on Friday (Oct 5).
The suspect is believed to be a proxy for his father.
“He was like a ‘runner’ in the transferring of bribe money involving contractors,” Malaysiakini quoted a source saying.
Reportedly, several other associates of Azeez have also been arrested.
They were allegedly named in companies linked to Azeez.
Azeez, who is also an Umno supreme council member, was released less than two hours earlier after 10 days under MACC remand.
