Zahid to choose date and time for more grilling while daughter denies being investigated by MACC.
Former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi emerged from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters at 5.40pm, more than eight hours after he arrived.
Although he smiled and waved at members of the press who were waiting for him, he declined to answer any questions.
He quickly walked away into the white SUV that brought him to the commission’s headquarters in the morning.
He will return to the MACC for further questioning on the alleged misappropriation of funds involving his charity foundation.
“I will choose my own date and time,” he said.
Bernama reported that Zahid’s daughter Datuk Nurulhidayah and his stepbrother Datuk Seri Mohamad Nasaee Ahmad Tarmizi also gave statements, believed to be to assist in the same investigation.
Nurulhidayah, however, denied she was questioned by the MACC.
She told reporters that she was there to accompany her father.
“No, I’m just here to accompany him,” she said curtly, as she hastily made her way to a waiting black Jeep J8 AIL Storm 3 after exiting the building through a back door at 4.52pm.
Clad in a green army jacket and a black tudung, she was accompanied by several officers.
Earlier, the MACC confirmed with The Star that she was questioned.
