Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid and other top party leaders are expected to turn up at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex Wednesday (July 3) morning in a show of support for Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The former Umno president is scheduled to face charges tomorrow at the court.
A WhatsApp message, purportedly written by a Selangor Umno division leader, urged all party leaders to be at the Court complex along with Dr Ahmad Zahid to support Najib.
Dr Ahmad Zahid’s aide, when shown the message and asked if the Umno president would attend the gathering, said that he is expected to.
The 1Malaysia Development Board (1MDB) taskforce confirmed Najib was arrested at 2.35pm on Tuesday (July 3).
He was arrested at his residence in Jalan Langgak Duta in Kuala Lumpur over the investigation into SRC International.
Quoting a source, Bernama reported that Najib is expected to face more than 10 counts of committing criminal breach of trust linked to the SRC International Sdn Bhd case.
Other sources say he may also face charges under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLA). – The Star
