Complaints have emerged that MRT users were not charged the RM4.30 per entry parking rate. Here’s how to enjoy the flat parking rate.
- Use the same Touch ‘n Go Card for all entrances and exits
- Tap in and tap out at the same station that has Park and Ride
- Exit the Park and Ride facility within two hours of exiting the final fare gate
- Get down at least at one other station along the route on to-and-fro joyrides
You should use the same Touch ‘n Go card throughout your journey on the Sg Buloh-Kajang (SBK) MRT line, said Mass Rapid Transit Corp (MRT Corp) strategic communications and stakeholder relations director Datuk Najmuddin Abdullah said in a statement.
“The same card used to enter the Park and Ride has also to be used at the fare gates of the station before boarding the MRT train because this is the only way that we can differentiate who has parked and ridden on the train, and who has not,” Najmuddin said.
He added that many of those who were charged the standard hourly parking rate had not followed this step.
You also need to “tap in” and “tap out” at the same station, which has the Park and Ride facilities.
“We have had instances where a user took the train at a station attached to a Park and Ride, and then returned to the park and ride by bus.
“This will result in the standard hourly rate being charged,” said Najmuddin.
Note that there is a two-hour time limit between exiting the final MRT station and exiting the Park and Ride parking facility.
Also, note that you will not enjoy the flat rate if you are on a joy ride without getting off at any station than the one you originally embarked from.
Remember that the RM4.30 Park and Ride flat charge only applies to these stations:
- Sungai Buloh
- Phileo Damansara
- Taman Midah
- Taman Suntex
- Bandar Tun Hussein Onn
- Bukit Dukung
- Sungai Jernih
All other parking facilities along the SBK MRT Line are owned and controlled by external parties.
Najmuddin said that more signs on the guidelines would be put up at the corresponding Park and Ride locations.
