Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza and Datuk Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa’s bundle of joy was officially introduced to members of the media at the couple’s home in Bukit Antarabangsa last night.
She was shown to the public during the aqiqah and tahnik ceremony – religious observances held to celebrate and welcome the newborn.
“I thank God for answering my prayers throughout these 11 years, a prayer I’ve asked every day – to experience being a mother.
“The word Aafiyah is found in an ayat doa (prayer).
“And this ayat doa has been in my heart throughout my pregnancy,” said the singer who was all smiles during the ceremony.
According to the new mum, “Aafiyah” means “everything that is good.”
The baby was born at 8.17am on March 19 via caesarean section and weighed 3.55kg.
The 39-year-old singer had posted on her official Instagram account a picture of her and Siti Aafiyah on Wednesday night.
Dressed in a pale green dress, with white mittens and a white headband, the newborn was pictured sleeping contently.
The arrival of the baby marked the end of the singer and her husband’s 11-year wait for a child.
The couple got married in August 2006.
Khalid has four sons from his previous marriage.
