Yunalis Mat Zara’ai, better known as Yuna, will soon return to Los Angeles where she is based as an artiste signed to David Foster’s Verve Records while Adam Sinclair will remain in Malaysia where he is based as a commercial and film director.
“It’s not going to be easy to deal with the distance between Malaysia and US. Ideally, I would like to take my husband to LA and be with him all the time,” Yuna said.
Since the pair started dating in 2015, they have always maintained a long-distance relationship.
Adam, 33, credits social media applications like Skype and WhatsApp for helping them stay connected.
“We’re going to be okay. Of course, I don’t plan to stay in the US forever. Eventually, we’ll come to a decision to be with each other at the same place,” Yuna said.
The couple were speaking at a press conference at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre on Saturday.
The 31-year-old singer-songwriter is gearing up for the release of her upcoming album later this year.
She will then go on an international concert tour to promote the album.
Adam won the Best Short Film award at the Malaysia Film Festival in 2012 for his work, ‘Sanzaru’. He has also directed Yuna’s music video for the song ‘Pulang’.
The couple tied the knot in a private solemnisation ceremony at a resort in Puncak Rimba, Bentong, Pahang, on Friday evening.
They got engaged last August.
The pair first met in 2013 on a set of a commercial in Putrajaya. Yuna arrived on the set after a 16-hour flight from the US and recalled feeling moody about the shoot.
“Then I met Adam and he made me comfortable and safe. He kept on checking on me to make sure that I’m okay. He was supportive. That’s when I set my heart on him. I told myself that I really liked this guy,” she revealed.
The Crush singer gushed on how she felt moments before the solemnisation ceremony took place at a resort.
“I was excited, a little nervous of course but overall it was beautiful. I’m so happy.”
“My wedding was everything I’d ever imagined.
“It has always been a dream of mine to get married in a garden-themed wedding. Despite the brief rain, we continued with the ceremony and had a great time,” Yuna said.
It was reported that seven trays of ‘hantaran’ (gifts) were presented by the groom, while the bride’s family handed in nine trays of ‘hantaran’ in return.
Some 300 guests, comprising the bride and groom’s family members and close friends, were on hand to witness the ceremony.
Yuna wore an elegant white dress by celebrated fashion designer Hatta Dolmat, who also collaborated with the singer on her engagement outfit last year.
Meanwhile, Indonesia-based actor Ashraf Sinclair said he is glad that his youngest sibling, Adam, has found his soulmate.
“Yuna is a lovely girl. The love that she and Adam have for each other is beautiful, and she makes him very happy. We’re more than thrilled to welcome her into our family,” said Ashraf.
