Anwar says the Cabinet reshuffle rumour was created to cause tension in PH while Azmin hopes his bond with Anwar lasts a lifetime.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described the rumours about a Cabinet reshuffle supposedly taking place after the Chinese New Year celebration as something deliberately created and sensationalised by certain quarters to cause tensions in Pakatan Harapan.
The PKR president said the rumours had also been dismissed by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“Even Tun Dr Mahathir said that we need not entertain such rumours, I have also met with (Economic Affairs Minister) Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali after his surgery.
“Everything is good. The rumour was deliberately sensationalised to create tension,” he told reporters on Wednesday (Feb 6) night.
Anwar said this in response to the recent blog post claiming that Azmin would be appointed deputy prime minister after Chinese New Year.
The blog also claimed that the rumours followed the fact that Azmin was given many important tasks by Dr Mahathir, including chairman of the Kelantan State Action Council and possibly heading the establishment of another National Economic Action Council.
Meanwhile, Azmin hopes that his relationship with Anwar lasts a lifetime.
In a tweet on Wednesday (Feb 6), Azmin shared a picture that showed him smiling while holding Anwar’s hand.
The picture shows a close-up of the two of them when Anwar and his wife Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail visited Azmin at his home in Ampang.
In his tweet, Azmin, who is PKR deputy president, also expressed his sincere appreciation for Anwar.
“Laughter and joy, cheerfulness and friendliness, respect and love, brotherhood and truth are displayed in the picture of these two human consciences @anwaribrahim and @AzminAli this morning. May this last a lifetime,” said Azmin.
Azmin, who is on one-month medical leave, was discharged from a private hospital on Tuesday (Feb 5) where he had undergone a gall bladder surgery.
He is recuperating at home after undergoing the surgery.
The visit by Anwar comes amid disagreements on PKR matters between the two PKR leaders in the past few months, especially over the fractious party election and Anwar’s choice of appointments for top party posts.
