MCA has yet to officially notify BN of its wish to disband the opposition n coalition, said BN secretary-general Nazri Abdul Aziz.
- MCA has not written to BN regarding dissolution
- the party could not survive without Umno
- MCA scared to leave BN
- Umno stronger without MCA
This is despite MCA passing a resolution to push for the dissolution of BN during its annual general assembly nine days ago.BN has not fixed a date for its next supreme council meeting to discuss the matter, he said.
“(We only) read about in the newspapers, (MCA has) not written to us,” he told Malaysiakini.
Despite calls for MCA to quit BN, the Chinese-based party passed the resolution on Dec 2 to authorise its central committee to pave the way for the dissolution of BN and forge an effective alliance.
Nazri said MCA, which could have opted for the easy way by simply quitting BN, had chosen a complicated way out. He added the party was fully aware that it could not survive without Umno.
“If you are not happy with BN, just leave like Gerakan (did), why make it difficult? You knew that we do not want to dissolve BN,” he said.
“I think they are scared to leave because Umno is stronger without them, that’s a fact,” said the Padang Rengas MP.
“If MCA leaves us, I think you can tell them to rest in peace,” he said.
“I was made to understand that the grassroots wanted to leave, but they hijacked the issue from the grassroots and changed the resolution,” he added. – Malaysiakini
