The film companies of The Expendables 2 paid HK$195,000 while actor Jet Li donated 30 times that amount.

Stuntman Liu Kun, 26, who hailed from Shangxi Province, lost his life on the Ognyanovo dam in Bulgaria during the filming of an explosion scene for The Expendables 2 in October 2011.

Liu, who bore a strong resemblance to Jet Li, was Li’s stunt double in the film.

Another stuntman who was the double for Sylvester Stallone was seriously injured during the explosion.

Liu’s parents filed a wrongful death lawsuit in 2012 against Millennium Films and Nu Image.

After a four-year lawsuit, the high court finally made a decision and ruled in favour of the parents, ordering the film companies to pay Liu’s parents a meagre HK$195,000, incurring the wrath of many fans.

Li, who is known for being a charitable and generous man, allegedly donated HK$5.8 million (RM3.17 million) privately to the family.
