Mineral water company Spritzer Bhd and Yee Lee Corporation Bhd, known for its Red Eagle cooking oil, each donates RM500,000 to the fund.

Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming, who received the funds on behalf of the Government, said he was touched and appreciative of the gesture by the two companies.

“The donation by the two companies is the biggest by far from Perak.

“I want to thank them for the meaningful gesture and hoped that it would encourage other big companies and Malaysians to donate to the fund,” he said during the presentation ceremony at Perak DAP headquarters in Ipoh on Saturday (June 2).

Nga said the contribution to the fund was voluntary and people were not forced to donate.

“It’s a kind gesture on a voluntary basis, and also a patriotic act.

“The amount is irrelevant. What matters is that it comes from the heart,” he said.

Spritzer executive director Dr Chuah Chaw Teo represented both Spritzer and Yee Lee in handing over the donations.

He said they were proud to contribute towards helping the country in its time of need.

“We hope we can encourage others to rise up and come forward to help the country face the challenges ahead,” Chuah said.
