Seven-year-old Argentinian Alum Langone Avalos who was reportedly abducted by her father from their native country and taken to Johor may no longer be in the southern state.

Sources told the Malay Mail that the girl was last spotted in Kulai where she attended a kindergarten and she may still be in the country, but is likely to have been moved out Johor after the local media highlighted her case.

“The trio may have recently moved to another state from Johor following the case being highlighted recently,” one of the sources was quoted saying.

The trio referred to are Alum, her 41-year-old father Jorge Gabriel Langone and an Argentinian woman said to be his current girlfriend Candela Soledad Gutierrez, 35.

It was reported that prior to being seen in Kulai, the girl was sighted in Kuala Pilah on Dec 17 last year.

Alum’s father had allegedly abducted his daughter from school and left Argentina illegally before entering Malaysia illegally through Johor last year.

The Embassy of Argentina in Malaysia had issued a statement on Jan 18 to seek the public’s assistance in locating Alum, who was reported missing since June 2017.

“Alum’s parents, both Argentine, are separated and the mother, Elisabeth, was granted full custody of the child.

“The Embassy confirms that her former partner was recently seen with the child in different locations in Malaysia,” it said.

Federal police and the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) have been roped in to investigate the abduction as alleged by Alum’s Argentinian mother Elisabeth Avalos, 27, who held a news conference in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday on the matter.

When contacted, Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said federal criminal investigators were handling the case.

“I can only confirm that a police report on the matter was recently lodged with the Johor Baru North district police where it was related to an earlier separate report by Argentinian Embassy officials at the Tun HS Lee police station in Kuala Lumpur,” he was quoted saying.

Mohd Khalil added that Bukit Aman will be working together with Interpol on the alleged abduction claims.

Alum is described as 1.25 metres tall, with dark brown hair and green eyes.
