It has been reported that a rented Proton Saga, believed to have been used by the suspects who gunned down Palestinian Dr Fadi Albatsh, had been found yesterday at around 2am in the Taman Tasik Ampang Hilir area.
“We have identified the owner (of the car) but I cannot comment further as our investigation is still ongoing. We are still in the midst of tracking all the suspects down.
“We are uncertain if the suspects are still in the country or not.
“I have already asked Interpol to help in our investigations and we have contacted our friends in the region to assist us as well,” said IGP Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
Fuzi added that investigations led police to believe that the two suspects had an accomplice who aided their getaway.
“We are certain that there was a person already waiting for them at Danau Kota,” he said.
On April 24, police found a Kawasaki motorcycle, believed to have been used by the assassins during the murder, in Danau Kota, Setapak.
Police believe after abandoning the high-powered motorcycle at Taman Tasik Danau Kota, the assassins fled in the rented Proton Saga.
Fuzi added that police also believed the suspects had lived in various places in the country before carrying out the assassination.
In the 6am incident on April 21, two men in full-faced helmets waited 20 minutes in the dark near Jalan Meranti in Setapak, before shooting Dr Fadi.
Yesterday, the slain Palestinian was buried after his remains were repatriated to Gaza via Cairo.
