China is prepared to take its corporation with Malaysia to new heights as both countries mark 45 years of diplomatic ties, said Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Bai Tian in his new year message.
“The Chinese side is ready to join hands with the Malaysian government and people, taking the 45th anniversary as a great opportunity, to embark on a new journey and take China-Malaysia cooperative partnership to new heights,” he said.
He said China and Malaysia have always regarded each other as close neighbours and trustworthy partners over the last half century, The Star reported.
“Our friendly and cooperative relations have withstood the test of time and have brought tangible benefits to the people,” he was quoted as saying.
According to the report, Bai said in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 1) that leaders of both countries have shown to the world a shared determination to push forward the friendly cooperation between Malaysia and China.
He said Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad made a successful official visit to China in August.
“Leaders of our two countries have shown the world our shared determination to further push forward China-Malaysia friendly cooperation.”
Malaysia witnessed a historic general and smooth change of government in 2018, said Bai.
“We believe that under the leadership of the new government, Malaysia will achieve further progress and march steadily towards prosperity and stability.”
Bai said 2019 is full of possibilities and aspirations for China and Malaysia.
“For me, my biggest wishes are for the prosperity and stability of China and Malaysia, the good health and well-being of the Chinese and Malaysian people, and the ever-lasting friendship between our two countries.”
