The daughter of a police officer was stabbed to death by a family member in an argument over his drug habit.
Robiatul Ain Mahamod, 27, died after being stabbed in the face and shoulder by a family member, believed to be either her nephew or cousin, at a house at Taman Temerloh Makmur, Temerloh, on Saturday night.
In the 9.30pm incident, the victim had got into an argument with the 26-year-old suspect over his alleged taking of drugs and stealing from the house.
Angered by her accusations, the suspect stabbed the victim repeatedly in her face and shoulder with a knife and the scissors and left her bleeding in the living room.
Robiatul was rushed to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital but she died while receiving treatment.
Pahang Criminal Investigations Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan confirmed the incident and said the deceased was the daughter of a police sergeant attached to the district police station, the New Straits Times reported.
“Angry with the accusations, the suspect repeatedly stabbed the victim in the face and shoulder.
“During the incident, only the victim and suspect were in the house although the victim’s husband and younger brother also lived there,” Othman was quoted as saying.
According to Othman, a neighbour heard the victim quarrel with a man and quickly contacted the victim’s father and younger brother.
“When the victim’s father and brother arrived at the house, they found the front door locked, which they broke to get in.
“On entering the house, they found the victim on the floor in the living room and they quickly took her to the hospital. However the victim was pronounced dead an hour later,” he was quoted as saying.
It is believed that the suspect works for the victim’s husband and has been staying in the house of the victim for three months.
It was reported that the suspect was apprehended at 10pm on the night of the incident at the back of an empty house around 70 metres from the scene of the crime.
“In the garage of the (empty) house, we recovered the knife and scissors used in the incident. Investigation is still ongoing under Section 302 of the Penal Code (for murder),” Othman was quoted as saying.
