Malaysia recorded only one new Covid-19 case today, bringing the country’s total number of cases to 9,002.
The Ministry of Health (MoH) said the new patient is a Malaysian from Perlis.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new case involved a Malaysian who had Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) after experiencing fatigue, loss of appetite, fever and cough.
He said the patient was admitted to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in Kangar for treatment.
This brings the total number of active cases currently receiving treatment at hospitals in the country to 193,” he said, adding that the case was a local transmission.
Dr Noor Hisham said there were also no imported cases identified in the last 24 hours.
“As of 12pm today, 16 patients who were admitted hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19 were allowed to return home after making full recovery.
“The total number of Covid-19 patients who have fully recovered to date are 8,684 individuals, which equates a 96.5 percent total recovery rate,” he said.
Dr Noor Hisham added that there are currently no Covid-19 patients in the ICU.
No new deaths due to Covid-19 were reported today, leaving the number of fatalities unchanged at 125.
