The mother of Datin Diana Danielle, Norsiah Ramli, is disappointed that there are people who see her as an obstacle to her daughter’s husband, Datuk Farid Kamil, in seeing his two young children.

In a news report by BH Online, Norsiah said that she had never barred or turned Farid away from meeting Muhammad, 4, and Nur Aurora, 2, who both live with her when their actor parents were out at work.

“I felt very sad when I came across statements that said Farid was missing his children. These statements were like an indirect accusation towards me and made me look as if I was the one who had denied Farid from seeing his children, which has resulted in his present condition.

“There’s absolutely no reason for me to do such a thing because they are his flesh and blood. I am only entrusted to care for my grandchildren and have never gotten involved in the personal affairs of Farid and Diana,” she said.

Norsiah added that Diana and Farid lived one floor above her unit in a condominium and they were free to drop by to have a quick look or to take both Muhammad and Nur Aurora back.

“I also frequently go back and forth between the two units to take some of my grandchildren’s things. And I would also see Farid in his home,” said Norsiah, who expressed her surprise to hear the news that Farid was severely stressed out due to missing his children very much.

With regards to her son-in-law’s recent arrest by the police, Norsiah said that she would leave it to the authorities to handle.

“Let the authorities conduct their investigation. I do not want to interfere with their duties,” she said.

Farid, who was alleged to have slapped a traffic police officer and kicked two civilians, was remanded for four days until Monday.

Magistrate Zaki Asyraf Zubir granted the four-day remand order against Farid yesterday.

It was reported that Farid was being investigated under Section 90 of the Police Act for “indecent behaviour in a police station.”

He was also being investigated under Section 323 and Section 353 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt and using criminal force to obstruct a public servant from carrying out his duties.

In addition to that, Farid was being investigated under Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 as well.

The famous actor and director was arrested by the police at 1.20pm on Thursday after he was alleged to have suddenly slapped a 24-year-old male police officer, which was witnessed by several other officers and members of the public in the Kota Damansara Traffic Police Station.

Prior to that, he was reported to have made his way to the police station to file a police report involving a road accident. – New Straits Times
