Hishammuddin Hussein has been appointed as Barisan Nasional treasurer, taking over from Tengku Adnan Mansor.
BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the mini-reshuffle is to solidify the organisational structure of the coalition, but did not elaborate on why Tengku Adnan was dropped.
“There was a small reshuffle among the BN leadership done to take into account several aspects to strengthen the BN organisational structure.
“With this, I appoint Hishammuddin as the new BN treasurer-general. Tengku Adnan still remains and will continue his duties as Umno treasurer,” Zahid said in a statement today.
Zahid said this decision had been discussed with the presidents of other BN component parties.
“BN thanks Tengku Adnan for his services as the treasurer of BN.
“We also congratulate Hishammuddin. We hope he can fulfil the responsibility entrusted to him,” he said.
Tengku Adnan, the Putrajaya MP, is currently facing charges in court for enriching himself when he was Federal Territories minister.
