Opposition MPs in Kuala Lumpur today made overtures for cooperation to Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa, urging him to stop politicking and focus on governance of the capital.
For starters, the lawmakers would like the minister to meet them.
“We read with great interest the continuous political tweets by FT Minister Annuar Musa, in relation to Perikatan Nasional’s bid for an emergency declaration,” they said in a joint statement.
“We wish to highlight that since his appointment as FT Minister in March, he has not called for a single meeting with the KL MPs to discuss issues related to governance in Kuala Lumpur. This is despite the KL MPs’ requests to meet that were made in the last parliamentary sitting.”
The nine MPs who signed the statement were Tan Kok Wai (Cheras), Fong Kui Lun (Bukit Bintang), Teresa Kok (Seputeh), Tan Yee Kew (Wangsa Maju), Lim Lip Eng (Kepong), Fahmi Fadzil (Lembah Pantai), Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (Setiawangsa), P Prabakaran (Batu) and Hannah Yeoh (Segambut).
They said Annuar, who is the Ketereh MP, could start engaging with them by calling a meeting to discuss next year’s budget for the parliamentary constituencies.
They also urged him to reinstate the Ministers Council (Majlis Menteri) that was established by his predecessor Khalid Samad.
“Annuar Musa should also reinstate the regular Majlis Menteri to get a good grasp of issues in Kuala Lumpur. Should he fail to do so, one can only conclude that the welfare and wellbeing of KL folk are the last of his priorities.” – TMI
