The police have nabbed a Facebook user who used his page to publish insults against the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and the royal institution.

The Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said the 36-year-old had allegedly made ugly comments on Facebook about the King using his facebook account ‘Sharil Chain’.

“He was picked up on Friday (March 15) in Sungai Petani, Kedah.

“We are investigating the case under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said in a statement on Friday.

Fuzi urged the public to be respectful while using social media and not to belittle the constitutional monarchy as it could create unrest and disrupt the harmony of the country.
