Motorcyclist succumbs to injuries after fighting for his life for 10 days.

The man who was injured after his motorcycle crashed into a tree that became uprooted in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, on March 5, passed away at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) at 5.15am on March 16.

Nor Azrul Ahmad, 37, who had remained unconscious, had been transferred from the intensive care unit to a normal ward but died on Friday and was laid to rest at the Gombak Muslim cemetery.

In the 7.25am incident, his pillion rider Mira Ezfa Abd Rasih, 25, also sustained injuries and was reported to be receiving treatment in Bagan Datuk, Perak, after initially being hospitalised at HKL.

They were on their way to work at Ampang Point when the mishap occurred.

The tree’s decaying root was identified as the main cause of the 130-year-old tree to fall to the ground.

Meanwhile, Mira’s father Abdul Rashid Hussain said Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur has agreed to bear the cost of his daughter’s treatment and compensate her for any losses.

He added that Meira and Nor Azrul were not a married couple as was reported earlier and they were just friends.
