It’s a one-to-one contest between MCA’s Tan Chee Teong and Pakatan Harapan’s Wong Siew Ki in the Balakong by-election.
The by-election here is a historic backdrop featuring MCA’s party logo and the newly-registered Pakatan logo for the first time, absent of the customary Barisan Nasional (BN) scales and DAP rocket logos.
Both MCA and Pakatan supporters had gathered at the Hulu Langat Land and District Office here before 8am.
Underscoring the importance of the Balakong by-election, big guns from both sides were at hand to show support for their respective candidates.
MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong and MCA Youth chief Datuk Chong Sin Woon along with central executive committee members and division leaders from Selangor and other states were there to support Tan.
On the Pakatan side, Finance Minister and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, national organising secretary Anthony Loke and others showed up for Wong, a former Subang Jaya local councillor.
