One of two suspected drug pushers wanted for killing a man who stumbled upon them packing drugs has turned out to be a member of the local boy band GTY Boyz.
Mohd Yusri Mohamad, 38, and Mohd Razman Saini Anuar, 24, were charged at the magistrate’s court in Penang yesterday with murdering Lim Kok Boon, 33.
Mohd Yusri is a member of the GTY Boyz, famous for the songs ‘Generasi 2000’ and ‘Show Me the Way’.
The duo, both clad in blue t-shirt and jeans, remained silent throughout the court proceedings.
No plea was recorded from both accused who were unrepresented.
None of their family members were present in court.
The men were alleged to have pounded Lim Kok Boon, 33, with a helmet, causing his death, at a rubbish disposal area at Block B of the Kampung Melayu flats in Penang at about 10.10pm on Sept 22.
Lim succumbed to head injuries at the Penang Hospital three days after the attack.
Mohd Razman was arrested on Sept 25 while Mohd Yusri was picked up in Cheras, Selangor, a few days later.
The duo was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which is non-bailable and carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
The court fixed Dec 7 for mention, pending the post-mortem report.
