Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took to Twitter to show his gratitude to Jasin Wanita Umno chief when she donated her beloved gold bracelet to contribute to the ‘Free Najib’ fund.
The Pekan MP thanked Zaleha Bujang for her contribution that would go towards the fund set up by Umno and supporters of the embattled former prime minister to help settle bail in his corruption trial.
“Saya sangat tersentuh hati dengan kesanggupan Puan Zaleha Bujang , Ketua Wanita Jasin mengorbankan gelang kesangannya untuk menyumbang kpd Tabung Bantu an ikat jamin saya. (I am very touched that Zaleha is willing to part with her beloved bracelet to contribute to the fund, to raise enough bail money),” he twitted via his handle @NajibRazak.
The tweet was retweeted 1,300 times and received 3,700 likes.
Meanwhile, The Star‘s malay portal mStar reported that Zaleha was equally touched by Najib’s tweet, adding that she deeply respected the country’s former leader.

“I would like to thank Datuk Seri Najib for writing the tweet.
“What I did was a sign of respect for him,” she said.
While her action has garnered massive praise from the masses, Zaleha admitted that there were some people who criticised her for it.
“Some people said it was better to contribute to the people of Syria, Palestine and Rohingya…I have already done that previously.
“It is my personal right to help anyone,” she said.
She also hoped that some RM10,000 will be able to be collected from all 89 branches within the Jasin Umno division and the sum will be handed over to those responsible for the Free Najib fund.
The fund, which hit RM11,000 on the first day of its launch on July 5, was set up by Umno and supporters of the embattled former prime minister to help settle bail in his corruption trial.
Solidarity With Najib Razak spokesman Datuk Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii had said the fundraiser was to help the former Umno president settle the second RM500,000 bail instalment set by the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
“It is difficult for him to pay the RM1 million bail this coming Monday because as we all know, he and his family’s bank accounts have all been frozen and all the money in his house has been seized – right down to the 10 and five sen coins.
“We’ll leave the fund open until noon on Monday. At 1pm, we’ll go in a group to deliver the amount we’ve collected to the court and pay the remaining bail instalment,” said Razlan, who is also Seputeh Umno vice-chairman.
On Wednesday (July 4), Najib was charged with three counts of criminal breach of trust and one count of abuse of power involving RM42bil linked to SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) subsidiary. – The Star
