Operations at the Sky Tower were suspended at about 5.35pm following a mechanical fault. There were 38 passengers and one operator in the tower’s gondola at that time.

Sentosa Rangers were called in to assist Sky Tower’s engineers with the manual winching to lower the gondola.

At 7.10pm, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted for assistance.

Just after 9pm, the revolving carousel descended a few metres and loud cheers were heard from within the cabin. But, it soon came to a stop.

At 9.45pm, the passengers and operator were finally able to disembark. There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fault is being investigated.

The Tiger Sky Tower is closed until further notice.

At 131 metres above sea level, the tower is Singapore’s tallest observatory tower. It features an enclosed cabin with a capacity of 72 persons. It revolves slowly to the top, offering passengers 360-degree panoramic views of Singapore and Sentosa Island’s beaches and attractions.
