A former Penang municipal councillor alleged to have “used criminal force with intent to outrage modesty” was freed on RM7,000 bail today.
L Prem Anand, 50, pleaded not guilty to the charge of outraging the modesty of a waitress.
He was alleged to have committed the offence at a car park of an entertainment outlet at Beach Street in Penang at 11.30pm on Jul 6.
The charge was under Section 354 of the Penal Code and carries the penalty of a maximum 10 years in jail, a fine, whipping or any two of the punishments.
Mention of the case was fixed for Aug 23.
