You can bid for the special ‘Malaysia’ plate numbers at the Road Transport Department (RTD) office from now till Aug 15.

If you wish to own any of the special ‘Malaysia 1’ to ‘Malaysia 10’ vehicle registration number, you will have to make a minimum bid of RM10,000.
If you wish to have special numbers such as from 11 to 19, double 2 to 9, triple 1 to 9 and quadruple 1 to 9, you will have to pay a minimum of RM2,000.
The minimum bid for other popular and running numbers is RM300.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook, who launched the special Malaysia series registration numbers, said the bidding will be open from Aug 1 till Aug 15.
“We will announce the names of the successful bidders on Aug 29, and they can register their vehicles before Merdeka day if they wished to,” he said at the official launch at the Road Transport Department Wednesday (Aug 1).
Loke said there will be no numbers reserved for any individual except Malaysia 2020 which will be for Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. However, it will be up to Dr Mahathir to accept the offer.
“All other numbers are open for bidding, as the ultimate aim is to get revenue for the Government,” Loke said.
He also said that although bidding will be closed on Aug 15, the numbers that have not been taken would still be available until they run out.
Meanwhile, he revealed that the e-bidding system for number plates is not yet available due to technical issues which are in the midst of being rectified.
