Seremban police have started a probe into a woman’s claim that her seven-year-old daughter’s lips were severely scalded after she was forced to drink hot water by the child’s stepmother.
Nilai OCPD Supt Zaldino Zaludin said his officers received a report from their counterparts at the Dang Wangi district station following a complaint lodged by the 35-year-old mother on Friday.
“We received a report on the alleged incident in Lenggeng and are investigating,” he said.
“We are now waiting for the medical report from the Kuala Lumpur Hospital, where the girl received treatment, to help us in our investigations.”
In the report, the mother, Nurul Dahlia Jaafar, claimed that the incident occurred on Feb 5, a day after she sent the youngest of her four daughters to her ex-husband’s house in Lenggeng, Negri Sembilan.
She only realised her Standard One daughter’s injuries when she went to pick her up on Friday.
Nurul, a religious school teacher, said she separated from her husband in 2011 and handed over custodial rights to him when she underwent some financial difficulties.
Her husband remarried in December 2016. Their children are aged 14, 13, eight and seven.
