Mohd Shafie also appealed to the people to give them time to put the state finances on the right track.

Ministers in Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal’s cabinet have been warned not to line their own pockets.

Mohd Shafie said he had given his ministers a stern warning to not change after coming into power and to continue living simple lives despite being office-bearers.

“I told them to not enrich themselves as it is the people that need to be enriched. I don’t want my ministers to change with power, and I told them that if they change they will be changed from my Cabinet,” said Mohd Shafie

He said this in his speech at Menara Tun Mustapha in Kota Kinabalu during a kuih raya giveaway to security forces on Thursday (May 24).

Also present were Deputy Chief Ministers Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau and Christina Liew.

Mohd Shafie, who is also the state Finance Minister, ensured Sabahans that no one will be left behind in the Pakatan Harapan-Parti Warisan Sabah state government.

“We will delegate our state’s rich resources to all Sabahans regardless of race, religion and origin. I will also ensure that not only mosques are built, but also places of worship for those of other faiths,” he said.

Mohd Shafie also appealed to the people to give them time to put the state finances on the right track.

“The state finances will take about a year or two to heal. Please give us time to do what is necessary,” said Shafie.

He also gave his word that Sabah will do its level best to assist Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in fixing the national economy.

“Dr Mahathir will face a lot of challenges in his task to fix the economy. We will do our level best to do what we can to contribute to the country,” he said. – The Star
