PKR has lodged a police report over a Facebook posting which it claimed touched on sensitive issues which could affect public peace and harmony.
Perak PKR chief, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak said the posting was by Mujahidin Zulkifli, a social activist and blogger and was posted on Dec 24.
“With reference to what Mujahidin has written in his Facebook account which earlier had stated that it was not wrong for a Muslim to wish someone Merry Christmas eventually turned out to be insulting and ridiculing the teachings and followings of Islam.
“Based on several paragraphs, he had clearly labelled Muslims as hypocrites, insulting Prophet Nabi Muhammad SAW.
“He also said Muslim women who use head scarfs (tudung) were twisted in their faith,” he said in a statement.
He said the posting was absolutely unacceptable.
“He should be properly schooled by our religious scholars and be more sensitive to the rules and regulations of our country,” he said.
Farhash said he was raised by a revert and taught to be tolerant to ensure all Malaysians lived in harmony.
“If my father could teach me to respect others, Mujahidin should also learn to appreciate and respect the Al-Quran and also refer to religious scholars before saying something sensitive to the eachings and practices of Islam,” he said.
He said he had since lodged a police report and investigations can be done under Section 298a of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
