Speculation mounting over the possibility of Nik Abduh joining Harapan.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to Kelantan yesterday has sparked a flurry of questions following revelations that he had met with former Bachok member of parliament Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.

The meeting, which supposedly took place at the Hotel Perdana, was also attended by Nik Mohamad Abduh’s elder brother Nik Omar, as well as Anwar’s wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

News of the meeting made waves last night when two pictures of the meet was shared by independent preacher Wan Ji Wan Hussin, who was also present.

Nik Mohamad Abduh and Nik Omar, both sons of the late Pas spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, have vastly different political leanings and had in the past taken different political routes.

In the 15th General Election (GE15), Pas had dropped Nik Mohamad Abduh as a candidate. The seat he had previously contested was instead given to Muhamad Shahir Che Sulaiman to contest.

Nik Omar, meanwhile, had instead chosen to make his political debut with Pakatan Harapan (PH), contesting the Pasir Salak parliamentary seat.

Speculation is now mounting over the possibility of Nik Mohamad Abduh joining PH’s ranks after being dropped by Pas during GE15.

Wan Ji, in sharing the images, had written: “Insya-Allah, legasi Tok Guru Nik Abdul Aziz sentiasa di hati Perdana menteri Malaysia’ (God willing, the legacy of Tok Guru Nik Abdul Aziz will always remain in the prime minister’s heart).”

In another posting, Wan Ji wrote that while there were many who sought to stamp out the legacy left behind by Nik Aziz, others are more than willing to continue it. – NST
