Body-search at the airport likened to “groping”.

Kinabatangan MP Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin wants a more efficient security system that would remove the need for security personnel to “grope” passengers suspected of security violations.

“How can you raba-raba passengers? Please stop groping.

“Buy a scanning machine instead,” Bung said when debating Budget 2018 in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Bung said airport security personnel would sometimes frisk passengers when the alarm from the metal detector went off. He likens the body-search to “groping”.

“Get scanners that can detect guns or drugs but not one where the alarm goes off so easily whenever passengers pass through it.

“We are supposed to be a developed nation with (Vision 2020) and TN50 (National Transformation 2050).

“Please don’t be a nation with first-class facilities but a third-class mentality,” he said.

In 2014, Bung complained that he was “felt up” during a security pat-down.
