The party veteran was reportedly upset with the decision of the state leadership not to endorse her choice of chairpersons for the village community management councils.

DAP’S Rahang assemblyman Mary Josephine Prittam Singh has quit the party but will continue to support Pakatan Harapan in the Negri Sembilan assembly.

The two-term representative made the announcement at an emotional press conference during which she indicated that she had been repeatedly side-lined from the party’s decision-making process.

“It is very painful, I have been with DAP for 46 years. I am still in support of the Pakatan Harapan government,” Mary said.

“I am resigning as DAP Wanita national organising secretary, Harapan national women’s vice-chief, Negeri Sembilan DAP Wanita chief and Negeri Sembilan Harapan deputy Wanita chief.

“Working and supporting DAP members and leaders in Negri Sembilan has become a very big disappointment, and with a very heavy heart, I am left with no choice but to tender my resignation as a DAP life member and from all party posts,” she told reporters at her service centre.

The party veteran is reportedly upset with the decision of the state leadership not to endorse her choice of chairpersons for the village community management councils announced by the state government on Wednesday (July 8).

She said that she had sent her resignation letter to the DAP headquarters, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun and also to the state legislative assembly speaker.

“As a state assemblyperson, I still give my full support to the MB. He is a person that I fully respect, and I will stay on to support Pakatan Harapan.

“My decision to step down is not something that started today or yesterday. It has been going on since 2018. I have been ridiculed and gossiped about, but it does not matter to me,” Mary Josephine said.

In the 2018 general election, Harapan won Negeri Sembilan narrowly, taking 20 seats in the state assembly to BN’s16.
