Datuk Johari Abdul has exposed a manuscript for a book which claims that Anwar should not become the next prime minister.
- Contents of the book contained elements and insinuations of homosexuality, corruption and allegations of being a Zionist and American agent
- The author promoted Azmin Ali whom he believed should be the next PM
- Claimed that someone has offered RM400k for the book, but will give the book to Anwar if he ups the price
The revelation comes amid a sex scandal, implicating PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, which is threatening to cause severe fissures in the party.
Identifying the author as one Yahaya Ismail, Johari said: “I don’t know him. But I believe he is a hired writer.”
The Sungai Petani MP will lodge a police report against Yahaya over his book Mengapa Anwar Tak Boleh Jadi PM for allegedly defaming PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He explained that the contents of the book contained elements and insinuations of homosexuality, corruption and allegations of being a Zionist agent and an agent of the United States

“In the book, there are elements questioning the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for giving a full pardon to Anwar. The act not only questioned but also insulted the Malay royal institution,” Abdul Johari told a press conference at the party headquarters.
However, he refused to divulge any further details of the book, until he lodged the police report.
Johari said that the author also promoted a leader whom he believed should be the next prime minister.
“I will only reveal the name of the leader once I lodge the police report. Any party is free to express their support for any leader to become the next prime minister, but by slandering Anwar, it is totally unacceptable and against the principle of freedom of speech,” said Abdul Johari.
Although he did not mention names, when reporters checked the manuscript, the title for Chapter 15 read, ‘Azmin Ali Bakal PM (Azmin Ali the next prime minister)’.
“Anwar told me these kind of writers are aplenty. But I told Anwar, you can’t let this kind of person go. This has to stop,” Johari added.
The manuscript is reminiscent of what transpired during Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s first tenure as prime minister where a book titled 50 Dalil Kenapa Anwar Tidak Boleh Menjadi Perdana Menteri (50 reasons why Anwar cannot become prime minister) was circulated.
In the latest development, Johari claims the author is now negotiating for a higher price than what he was offered for the book.
According to Johari, the author had contacted him, saying he wanted to meet with the PKR president.
“He informed me that he has completed the book and someone has offered him RM400,000 for it.
“If Anwar ups the price, he is willing to give the book to Anwar. Otherwise, he will give it to the person willing to publish the book,” he added.
Meanwhile, Johari said there is an element of extortion with regard to the author demanding a higher price.
“But by contacting me, he picked the wrong person.
“This is a question of pride. It is a crime when you threaten people so that the book is not published.
“The 16 chapters are laden with slander. It is his right to promote someone to be prime minister. But when he attempts to extort, he crossed the line. I cannot compromise on this,” he added.
