Having spent a week in prison, former premier Najib Abdul Razak today said that he used most of his time in incarceration to pen his thoughts.
In a short message delivered through his daughter Nooryana Najwa, the Pekan MP, who was sent to jail last Tuesday, said it was the only way he can get his message across now, albeit delayed.
“Gina (Nooryana) said many had been asking how I am doing. So far, I am fine, I am still in good health and calm. Alhamdulillah.
“I had the opportunity to meet with my lawyer and family members according to the allowed visiting time. So, I had the chance to ask them about the current issues while discussing my court cases.
“A lot of my time was also used to write down my views, which I would hand to my lawyer or family members to be shared with all of you.
“It might be delayed for a bit (for the message to reach others), but this is the best I could do,” he said.
Najib’s message was posted on his official Facebook account this afternoon. It had since attracted thousands of comments from his supporters.
Najib, who served as the country’s sixth prime minister between 2009 and 2018, was sent to the Kajang Prison on Aug 23 to start his 12-year jail sentence after the Federal Court upheld his criminal convictions concerning seven charges linked to RM42 million from SRC International. – Malaysiakini
