Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has urged the people to just ignore veteran politicians like former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, whom he lamented as ‘trouble makers’.

He claimed that the duo has been causing trouble for the past three decades.

Saifuddin, who is also Pakatan Harapan secretary-general claimed that Mahathir and Abdul Hadi have contributed towards destabilising the government over the past five years.

“Over the past five years, they have created destabilisation in politics to fulfil their personal interest and not contributing towards nation building,” Saifuddin said in his speech at the launching of Unity Kedah manifesto and candidates’ introduction in Bandar Laguna Merbok here yesterday.

He claimed that Mahathir and Abdul Hadi were not propagating Malay unity.

“Politics constantly changes and sometimes, takes unexpected turns. I was wondering what makes them work together. To me, it is not about Malay unity or the future of the Malay community.

“Both of them represent the politics of vengeance, jealousy, hatred and outdated. Tun Mahathir is the most unhappy person when Anwar Ibrahim was appointed as the Prime Minister,” he said.

Saifuddin called on the public to make the right choice in the upcoming state election.

“It should be a battle of policies, offers versus offers. Let’s start with new politics, only then we can achieve matured politics and the people do not make decisions (voting) based on just politics on racial and religious sentiment.

“Let’s send them a clear signal that it is enough with the two characters, it is time to move on,” he said. – NST
