The wife of Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, has denied allegations that she had forcefully taken the former Sarawak governor out of the hospital against the advice of doctors.
“That’s not true. This is the proof,” wrote Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib in an Instagram post, with a photo of a note believed to be from a nurse.
The note, which was dated Feb 2, was mostly illegible handwriting, and was believed to be signed off by a nurse named Benedette Tommy.
According to the note shared by Raghad, doctors were informed at 1.40pm on Saturday that Raghad wanted to bring Taib home, and that a doctor had noted the request.
Then at 1.45pm, a doctor said an infusion needed to be completed before discharge.
At 2pm, the note records Taib’s vitals at the time, and ends with the remark “awaiting for discharge”.
According to a police report purportedly lodged by a doctor, Raghad allegedly removed all medications attached to Taib without alerting hospital staff late on Saturday.
Earlier, Sarawak police announced that they are investigating a report that former Yang di-Pertua Negeri was removed from a hospital in Kuching against medical advice.
State police commissioner Comm Datuk Mancha Ata confirmed that a police report was lodged.
According to the police report, which had gone viral on social media, Taib was “absconded” from the hospital against medical advice by his wife, Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib, at close to midnight on Feb 3.
The report alleged that he was brought down in a wheelchair by Raghad’s butler and bodyguards and carried into a vehicle at the hospital’s main entrance.
A second police report by another family member of Taib’s was reportedly lodged on Sunday based on the first report.
According to the second police report, none of Taib’s siblings or four children were made aware of his current whereabouts and health condition.
