PAS must fulfil three demands.

UMNO wants PAS to fulfil three conditions if the latter wants to continue its political cooperation with the Barisan Nasional backbone component in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said apart from leaving Perikatan Nasional (PN) and ending all political cooperation with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), PAS must also officially declare that the party has separated completely from PN and Bersatu.

“PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang is aware of all these conditions since it was relayed to him during a meeting we had.

“They (PAS) know about the conditions. Only after meeting all these conditions can we begin to discuss (the cooperation between UMNO and PAS),” he said.

Zahid said while there had been no official discussions held between UMNO and PAS over the three conditions, there were informal talks.

“Since PAS has yet to make an official decision over the matter, I cannot elaborate,” he said.

UMNO on Friday confirmed that a meeting between Zahid and Hadi had taken place. The meeting was believed to be on cooperation involving both parties for GE15.

PAS has as recently as yesterday, maintained that it wants to work together with both UMNO and Bersatu in GE15.

Bersatu had already declared UMNO-led BN was PN’s main enemy in GE15, contradicting PAS’ stance that the enemy was Pakatan Harapan.

PAS is expected to meet sometime in the coming week to decide on its future with UMNO and Bersatu – and its current stance would be impossible for either potential partner to accept.
