Former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been summoned to the headquarters of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today.

An MACC source said Zahid arrived at Putrajaya at about 9.30am in a black MPV, an hour ahead of schedule.

However, it is unknown what the Bagan Datuk MP is being questioned about.

Zahid, who was once the defence minister, came to the MACC office last Thursday to assist in the investigation on alleged land swap deals involving the defence ministry.

On Sunday (June 23), former Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein was questioned for close to seven hours over the land swap deal controversy involving the Defence Ministry (Mindef).

Zahid, who is also a former defence minister, was also implicated in some of the 16 dubious land swap deals.

Meanwhile, Harian Metro reported that Zahid was summoned to be probed over alleged kickbacks from a private company to facilitate the entry of tourists from China.

He would be quizzed by the MACC’s Special Operations Unit under Section 16(a) of the MACC Act 2009, the Malay daily reported.

It also quoted a source as saying that Zahid would be charged in two courts, one in Kuala Lumpur and the other in Shah Alam, tomorrow in relation to this case.
