Zenith Construction fed-up with relentless politically-motivated allegations.
Any parties spreading fake news or false information about the RM6.43bil Penang mega project comprising the three main roads and an undersea tunnel would be sued, warned the main contractor Consortium Zenith Construction Sdn Bhd (CZC).
Its board of directors said parties spreading such news about the project or CZC through media platforms, including social media and other channels would be held liable.
CZC, a subsidiary of Vertice Bhd, said the company and the Penang Mega Infrastructure Project have once again been the “subject of political talking points by irresponsible parties” in recent weeks.
“As an apolitical business entity, CZC respects constructive criticisms which were given in good faith based on facts and figures.
“However, it is regrettable that politically-motivated allegations were relentlessly and unjustly hurled at CZC by irresponsible parties,” it said.
It added that the allegations cannot be substantiated and had invariably cast doubts on the project.
“CZC intends to uphold facts and the truth of the project,” the board said in a statement yesterday.
It said CZC, as the principal contractor, reaffirms its commitment to move ahead towards the construction of the project.
It also said that barring any unforeseen circumstances, the company is committed to ensuring the full delivery of the project to its client.
Shares in Vertice fell 0.5 sen or 0.58% to 85 sen yesterday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM123.42 million.
