The Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) was again, for the fifth time, raided by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday.

The raid was linked to allegations of corruption and abuse of power in an RM500 million project undertaken by CCM, according to The Malaysian Insight (TMI).

The investigators took away several boxes of documents yesterday, making a total of 77 boxes of documents and files confiscated in the series of operations that commenced on Jan 9.

“The witnesses will be summoned soon,” an MACC source was quoted as saying.

MACC also reportedly raided four companies in Kuala Lumpur in connection with the investigation.

BN Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin had urged the authorities to investigate the controversial projects in CCM two months ago.

It was earlier reported that the MACC was investigating the child of a senior officer at the commission, who is believed to be involved in the project. The involvement of the suspect, in the 20s, came to light after a raid was carried out by the MACC at three companies and the CCM headquarters on Jan 14.
