Police to check if riot control SOP followed during Seafield temple incident.

Police investigation into the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim has never been closed, Bukit Aman CID director Datuk Huzir Mohamed said.

In fact, he said the investigation is still ongoing and awaiting further instruction from the Attorney-General’s Chambers following the verdict of the Shah Alam Coroner’s Court yesterday.

“The Royal Malaysia Police has taken notice of the court’s decision on the actual cause of Muhammad Adib’s death for further action,” he said in a statement.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador also reportedly said that police will take appropriate action to investigate and identify the persons responsible for the death of Adib.

Suspects previously arrested and released due to a lack of evidence may be recalled, Hamid was quoted as saying.

“Before this, there was insufficient evidence to press charges against anyone.

“If the coroners’ court has ruled that there were criminal elements in the death, we will review the case.”

Hamid also said he will check whether police’s standard operating procedure had been followed during the unrest.

“The SOP is there. Whether it was followed…we will have to check. The SOP does not need to change. It is sufficient, and I don’t see the need to change it.”

He called for calm and warned against plans to hold rallies or incite violence over the verdict.
