Fake news: Anwar granted audience with Agong

Reports suggesting that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has granted an audience to PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today is not true.

The matter was confirmed by PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil in a statement today.

“A number of news portals have published reports, which quoted sources, that the party president has been granted an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong today.

“This is, however, not true.

“I appeal for the cooperation from members of the media to obtain verified information from the right sources before publishing reports to prevent any confusion or misunderstanding,” read the statement.

According to the source-based reports, Anwar who is also Port Dickson MP was said to have been granted an audience at the Istana Abdulaziz in Kuantan at 2.30 pm today.

Istana Negara has also denied rumours of Anwar being granted an audience with the Agong this afternoon.

Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin was quoted saying that it was “fake news”.
