Farhash has challenged IGP Abdul Hamid Bador to arrest Azmin Ali over a sex video implicating the latter.

Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak and former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Aziz were released from police custody today, a week after being arrested over the gay sex videos saga implicating a federal minister.

They were greeted by some 50 people who had gathered outside the Dang Wangi police station here, carrying placards and chanting “Bebas Farhash” (Free Farhash).

Upon his release, Farhash told reporters that police had “taken away his liberty’ as they had arrested him without any justification.

“I don’t look like Azmin Ali. Why can’t they just call me and have my statement recorded? They chose to detain me like some murderer,” he said.

Farhash, who is also the political secretary to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, today said the police had initially tried to detain him for a maximum of two weeks.

“They wanted to arrest me for seven days and then they want to add another seven days. Luckily, we have good lawyers, and they argued against the necessity (to detain me).

“For eight days, even the police officers investigating this case are also puzzled. Why detain me, and not Azmin Ali?”

He also called his arrest a “political conspiracy” against Anwar.

“I think there is a political conspiracy. It is a conspiracy against Anwar Ibrahim. If the inspector-general of police has credibility, bring Azmin Ali in,” he said.

He then left the police station with a group of supporters.

Meanwhile, Kenzin Goik, a lawyer representing Haziq, said his client was in good condition, adding: “So far so good. They (police) are being professional. Now he is on bail and the investigation is almost done.

“It is unlikely that he will be arrested again. Now we will see if he will be charged or not. The police and DPP will decide.”
