Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh has denied allegations by Perak PAS Commissioner Razman Zakaria that she is the daughter of the late Yeoh Tiong Lay, founder of YTL Corporation Berhad.
Taking to X, Yeoh clarified, “PAS needs to know not all Yeohs are related,” while sharing a video of Razman making the claim.
In the video, Razman also accused the Umno-led Perak state government of selling state assets, including land and cement, to YTL Group for profit.

“Hannah Yeoh is a daughter in the wealthy YTL family. YTL used to be admired in Perak. Umno back then sold Perak, including land, cement, and anything that could be sold for profit, to YTL,” he alleged.
Nor Miswary Ramli, Yeoh’s private secretary, criticised PAS members for making assumptions based solely on surnames. “The mentality of PAS people is that if the names are the same, there must be a connection,” she wrote on X alongside the video.
The full recording of Razman’s speech is available on his Facebook page.
YTL Group, a prominent Malaysian conglomerate, was founded by Yeoh Tiong Lay, who passed away in 2017.
Following Yeoh’s clarification, Razman publicly admitted his mistake, acknowledging that there is no connection between Yeoh and the YTL family.
“I acknowledge the factual error regarding the connection between Hannah and YTL. I admit that Hannah has no connection with the corporate figure or the YTL company. This was an unintentional error in the quoting process,” Razman said in a social media post.
He apologised to Yeoh, YTL, and anyone affected by the confusion.
Razman also expressed frustration with the media, which he accused of focusing on a one-minute excerpt of his 30-minute speech rather than its broader context.
This is not the first time Razman has been forced to retract accusations against DAP leaders. Last December, he apologised to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming after falsely linking him to a Teluk Intan procession featuring Chinese national flags.
The controversy comes in the wake of another defamation case involving PAS lawmaker Siti Mastura Muhammad, who was ordered to pay RM830,000 after losing a lawsuit for falsely alleging ties between DAP leaders and the Communist Party of Malaysia.
