Apparently, only police officers from the general duty were called back, which according to the IGP, is normal procedure.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun has refuted an allegation on the withdrawal of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Special Action Unit (UTK) officers.
He said the Royal Malaysia Police still maintained the service of the UTK personnel to accompany and protect the former prime minister, including at his home.
“The police still maintain the UTK members for Dr Mahathir,” he said when contacted by bernama on Nov 5.
Mohamad Fuzi said this in response to a posting uploaded by Dr Mahathir on social media that the UTK personnel had been withdrawn by the Government on Nov 1.
