It was previously reported that the elusive Jho Low was in Taiwan or China, but now he is believed to be hiding in Macau.
Sought by Malaysian authorities, Low is reportedly in Macau, according to The Malaysian Reserve.
The newspaper, citing a government source, said authorities are not able to get to Low as there is no extradition treaty with the special administrative region (SAR) of China and former Portuguese colony famous for its casinos.
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had last Friday said Malaysia is trying to arrest the Penang native.
“But he is not in the country and we don’t have extradition rights with the country where he is staying,” he said.
Singapore authorities had on Saturday revealed that it had issued an Interpol Red Notice for Low since October 2016.
Malaysia, under the previous government, had refused to pursue Low who is accused of being a key figure in the misappropriation of 1MDB funds.
