Former treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah, who came to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters at 3.25pm, will be held overnight.
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who arrived at the MACC office in Putrajaya at 1.55pm, left at 5pm after giving his statement.
The MACC has gotten approval from the Attorney-General’s Chambers to charge Irwan and Najib on Thursday (Oct 25).
In a statement, MACC said both would be charged in connection with several cases of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM6 billion belonging to the Malaysian government.
Reportedly, the charges are said to be linked to the 1MDB scandal, the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) and two gas pipeline projects in the peninsula and Sabah.
They may also face charges of using approved government allocations to settle 1MDB’s dispute with the International Petroleum Investment Co (IPIC).
The duo will be present at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court at 7.30am on Thursday to face the charges.
The MACC also clarified that they have been granted permission by the Attorney General’s Chambers to charge chief of now-defunct Malaysia External Intelligence Organisation (MEIO) Datuk Hasanah Abdul Hamid tomorrow with CBT.

Hasanah was previously remanded by the MACC to assist investigations concerning some US$12 million (RM49.9 million) of government funds allegedly embezzled for the general elections.
If the three are convicted, each CBT charge carries a prison sentence of no less than two years and not more than 20 years, whipping, and also a fine.
Meanwhile, the MACC today raided Irwan’s house at Precinct 8 in Putrajaya.
Irwan was taken by a team of five MACC officials in a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) to his house at 4.30pm.

The raid on Irwan’s house lasted 15 minutes before he was taken back to MACC headquarters.
When leaving the house, MACC officers were seen carrying a briefcase and two coats belonging to Irwan.
There was a slight commotion when reporters and photographers who were outside Irwan’s house were prevented from covering the raid by family members, who asked them to delete photographs taken.
